Here we are folks, on week 2 of Better Homes and Gardens' One Room Challenge.
It feels like just yesterday that I stumbled upon a dreamy, natural ash walnut wood and rattan mid century bed frame and fell head over heals. There's something about a cane and rattan texture that feels vintage yet modern. The wrap around headboard gives it a little something extra, and after years of having a boring grey cloth, tufted headboard, The Rina feels fresh and exciting.
I have also had my eyes on the Leap Swivel Sconce by Article, for some time now. The clean lines and sharply curved arm is dramatic and sexy, the perfect beside light source. While we have both overhead recessed lighting and a ceiling fan light, the ambient lighting that a sconce light provides, especially while catching up on a Netflix binge, is essential in the way that utilize our bedroom. I don't know about you, but if I don't have some sort of low light, I WILL fall asleep mid episode!
As mentioned in ORC Week 1's blog, bedside storage is very important in this master bedroom redesign, as our previous nightstand had absolutely no storage. I wanted something that wouldn't compete with the bed, yet has a simple, sleek look. The Vikhammer Nightstand by Ikea, met all of those requirements and at this price point, you can't beat it!
TADA!.....
Now that I have the "big" items of the room down, everything else is starting to fall into place. Next week I will discuss the art of this master bedroom refresh, because one simple, classic art piece was the inspiration for the entire mood of this room.
In the meantime, please be sure to check out some of my fellow designers' ORC's. If you are looking for some professional design help for your own home, head over to our services page to find out more about what ABD has to offer!
