Academic Achievements

Stephen, a fourth-year scholarship recipient studying Mechanical Engineering, attributes his progression to the competitive MEng Master Program from his initial BEng degree pathway to support he has received from a Scholarship funded by Alumni Fund donors.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the support of a scholarship. University has been a challenging but rewarding experience so far and without the assistance the scholarship provides that might not have been the case.

In my second year I achieved a distinction and made the Dean’s List for meritorious academic performance. This has been the crowning achievement of my university experience, and I couldn’t be happier about having achieved this.

Receiving the scholarship has helped me to push through the difficulties of university study and has given me a target to strive towards. I know that moving up to the Masters course will be a challenge, but I feel that it’s a challenge I can rise to thanks to the support of the scholarship.”

International Experiences

Mia is a recent Prosthetics and Orthotics graduate who received a scholarship funded by the Alumni Fund donors. In her final year, the scholarship supported a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in New Zealand.

“I’d like to thank those who choose to support scholarships, as I’ve benefitted so much from the support, which allowed me to focus on my studies and fully take part in the experiences available to me.

In my final year I was given the opportunity to undertake my prosthetics work placement in New Zealand. Without the scholarship, funding my flights and accommodation would have been extremely difficult. It was amazing to travel so far and meet so many incredible people. I learnt all about a different culture while continuing my studies and gaining an insight into an alternative healthcare system.

This experience pushed me out of my comfort zone and I was really proud of myself for going out and giving it my all.”
