Personal statement

I am a highly interdisciplinary and collaborative academic with 15 years experience of working on hydrogen technologies and novel materials in Japan before returning to the UK. My main interests lay in energy and sustainabity and how we can ensure that so-called renewable technologies do not inherently rely on unsustainable or critical raw materials .聽 聽

The ASPIRE program is funded by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and aims to maintain and improve Japan's scientific and technological capabilities, to connect top researchers in Japan and advanced STI countries and regions through international joint research, and to accelerate talent circulation across the world. They aim to promote pioneering R&D, as well as nurture and mobilize the next generation of research leaders.

Kyushu University is one of the leading institutions in the worlds for hydrogen research, with state-of-the-art characterisation, testing and pilot-scale testing facilities, including the Next Generation Fuel Cell Research Center (NEXT-FC). In this project NEXT-FC is collaborating with me and other international researchers to develop "next-generation solid oxide cells for power generation and hydrogen production".
