Research Interests
I was appointed Lecturer in Applied Mathematics within the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ in November 2024. Prior to this, I held an EPSRC Postdoctoral Prize Research Fellowship at the University of Glasgow (2022–2024), following the completion of my PhD in Applied Mathematics at the same institution (2018–2022).
My research lies at the intersection of applied mathematics and biology, with a particular focus on poroelasticity, composite and viscoelastic materials, and the development of continuum mechanics models for complex biological systems. I apply these frameworks to clinically relevant scenarios, including cardiac modelling, encompassing electrophysiology, perfusion, and disease progression, as well as pathologies affecting eye tissues.
During my doctoral studies, I developed multiscale mathematical models to describe perfusion and mechanical behaviour in biological soft tissues. These models are derived using homogenization techniques applied to fluid–structure interaction problems, enabling the transition from microscale material descriptions to effective macroscale partial differential equation systems.
In addition to homogenization, my methodological toolkit includes mixture theory, analytical solution techniques, and statistical sensitivity analysis. This breadth allows for tailored modelling strategies that reflect the specific physical, biological, or clinical features of the system under investigation.
I actively collaborate with clinicians to co-design interdisciplinary medical devices, particularly in the context of eye disease. My work integrates mathematical modelling and real world healthcare challenges to advance translational research, bridging the gap between theoretical innovation and clinical application.
